Bible Study Group
In August we will meet each week on Wednesday evenings for a church-wide study several small books of the Bible
They are some of my favorite books of the Bible and I think you’ll enjoy this study. In the meantime I hope you will use a technique called lectio divina to read scripture in a new way. Here’s how it works: Go back to one of the areas of scripture that really spoke to you during “By The Book” and read very slowly.
(Usually we read to “get through” a predetermined section of scripture. Not so in lectio divina.) Read with no thought to how far you will go and just let every word, phrase, and passage live within you. When you come to one that really seems to move you, STOP and just concentrate on it and pray that God will speak to you in a new way. This is a technique that was taught to me by the monks at Mepkin Abbey and it has been a wonderfully deepening spiritual experience for me. I pray that it will be for you as well. Pastor Tony
