Maurice has been a church musician in various capacities for about 35 years, many of which were spent while working in his primary occupation as a Human Resource and Labor Relations executive until moving to Florida in 2004 and taking early retirement.  

After graduating from Brown University with a degree in Psychology, Maurice took a position with Penn Central as Personnel Management Trainee and eventually became Sr. Labor Relations Examiner.  He then left to become Associate Director of Labor Relations with a national trade association where he negotiated labor agreements with construction unions on behalf of contractors and manufacturers.  He moved to Rhode Island in 1980 for the position of Personnel Manager with a manufacturer of tubing and wire products.  In 1986, he took a position as Human Resource Manager with an automotive company and was later promoted to Vice President of Human Resources.  The company was sold in 2002 and he left in 2004.

In the mid 1970’s, Maurice was choir director at New Fairfield United Methodist Church in Connecticut until moving to Rhode Island in 1980.  A few years later, he assumed the role of choir director at Trinity United Methodist Church in Providence.  In 1986, the church lost its organist.  Maurice had a background in piano but not in organ; he decided to give it a try while studying privately with an organ teacher, which he did for several years.   

In 1989, Maurice accepted the position of Organist and Choir Director at Roger Williams Baptist Church in Providence where he remained until 2004.

In 2005, Maurice accepted the position of organist/accompanist at Christ Community Church and was later given the additional responsibility of Choir Director.  

In March 2006, he accepted the position of Organist/Accompanist at Azalea Park United Methodist Church and was subsequently offered the role of Choir Director a few months later.
