Read: 1 Samuel 9-12
Focus Verse: “Now then, stand still and see this great thing the LORD is about to do before your eyes! Is it not wheat harvest now? I will call on the LORD to send thunder and rain. And you will realize what an evil thing you did in the eyes of the LORD when you asked for a king.” (1 Samuel 12:16-17).
Devotion: Can the king bring rain? Can an earthly human cause things to grow? Israels sin is asking for a king when they already have God as their king. Saul, their new king, can lead them into war, win battles, do well, but only on the blessing and hand of God. Samuel’s command: stand still and see what the LORD will do. It’s the LORD that does, not us. Right now, know the LORD is moving in your life. It may get hard, it may feel impossible at times, but stand still and see what the LORD is about to do before your eyes!
Pray: LORD let me see you moving before me, and let me be still knowing it is You who moves. Amen.
Additional Scripture: “The LORD is my strength and my song; He has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise Him.” (Exod. 15:2)
