Read: Numbers 8-10

Focus Verse: “Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out.” (9:22).

Devotion: Granted they had a cloud of smoke or a pillar of fire to follow, but wow, the Israelites moved their camp only at the command of God. It didn’t matter how long or short they were in an area. Maybe God would move them daily, maybe during the night, maybe it’d be a long time, years, but they patiently waited when needed, and faithfully followed when needed. How do we know when God wants us to move? Will we go when and wherever God leads? Perhaps sometimes God wants us to stay put for a while longer, while other times it’s time to move. However, all the time we should be working to patiently seek out what God is saying so we know if we should stay or we should go.

Pray: LORD help me see when You rise and set out, and bless my strength, courage, patience, and faith to follow. Amen!

Additional Scripture: “This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24)
