Read: Leviticus 1-4
Focus Verse: “If any member of the community sins unintentionally and does what is forbidden in any of the LORD’s commands, when they realize their guilt and the sin they have committed becomes known, they must bring as their offering for the sin they committed a female goat without defect.” (Leviticus 4:27-28).
Devotion: Several times in this section—which addresses forgiveness of sin—a distinction is made. This section deals with unknown sin that is made known. (4:2, 4:13, 4:22, 4:27) The sin offering is required once the sin is made known and the sinner knows their guilt. Other than the incidental, does this mean not all sin is quite so obvious? Are there times, or how often, do I become separated from God daily, and I don’t even know it? That’s why I’ve seen in myself that it’s important that I read, journal, and walk everyday. It’s in these times of reflection that I can see when in my day I’m connected to God and when I feel separated, and why.
Pray: LORD in times of reflection help me become aware of my less than obvious sin so that I can correct these behaviors so that NOTHING is between You and I. Amen!
Additional Scripture: “Be strong and courageous! For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
