Read: Exodus 10-12
Focus Verse: “So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said to him, ‘This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, so that they may worship me.” (Exodus 10:3).
Devotion: Simply put, every chance Pharaoh has to relent towards God he refuses to go all in. God is demanding ALL of his people and animals be let go. Pharaoh relents, but only if the men go, leaving the women, children, and livestock… (Not what God asked for, but it’s a start I suppose…?) Then after more plagues; only if the animals stay behind can the people go. Pharaoh is seeking insurance, security, control, power, but all on his terms. God is doing everything to get Pharaoh’s undivided attention, but Pharaoh is too stubborn. Why is it so hard sometimes to give it all over to God, 100%, on God’s terms? Why must I feel in control and know outcomes rather than listen and trust? Too often I want to give most, but not all. But with God we have to rid the security net that is in HIS place, and give all control and power over to God.
Pray: LORD help me to give it all to you, no restrictions. Amen!
Additional Scripture: “See how very much our Father loves us, for He calls us His children, and that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1)
