Read: Job 24-28
Focus Verse: “And these are but the outer fringe of his works; how faint the whisper we hear of him! Who then can understand the thunder of his power?” (Job 26:14).
We must be careful not to use God to make our point. Job’s friends keep talking as if they know how God works with certainty. Yes there are aspects of God’s character we know—love, grace, peace—but we can’t truly know the fullness of God or comprehend God. That’s Job’s point. Yet he takes it further: “And he [God] said to the human race, ‘The fear of the LORD—that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.’” (Job 28:28). We seek God for wisdom, we run towards his love for understanding, but know we’ll never have all of God’s wisdom or understanding. That’s why it’s important to seek God with people rather than condemn with absolutes. Wisdom is a life long process.
Pray: LORD help me see Your wisdom with patience and love. Amen.
Additional Scripture: “I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
