Read: 2 Chronicles 28-31
Focus Verse: “Although most of the many people who came from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar and Zebulun had not purified themselves, yet they ate the Passover, contrary to what was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, ‘May the LORD, who is good, pardon everyone who sets their heart on seeking God—the LORD, the God of their ancestors—even if they are not clean according to the rules of the sanctuary.’ And the LORD heard Hezekiah and healed the people.” (2 Chronicles 30:18-20).
Devotion: Let the only standard before God be setting our hearts on God. It said they were unclean according to the rules of the sanctuary. We still have rules in our sanctuary nowadays, albeit they aren’t set up on cleanliness. We have our own standards or expectations for who can and should come worship in the Church. However, we see God is who heals and cleanses, and God is concerned with our heart. Let all who come seeking God with their hearts be welcomed with open arms!
Pray: LORD rid me of my bias, help me welcome all who seek to love You. Amen.
Additional Scripture: “Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD will personally go ahead of you.” (Deuteronomy 31:8)
