Read: 1 Samuel 13-14
Focus Verse: “Perhaps the LORD will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the LORD from saving, whether by many or by few.” (1 Samuel 14:6b).
Devotion: So far Jonathan’s father, king Saul, has been a hot mess. It’s funny to see this juxtaposition in Ch 13 Saul is impatient and breaks faith with God, and he is unsuccessful in battle. However, in Cr. 14 his son Jonathan I impatient hiding, yet he trusts the LORD. This statement in 14:6 shows trust that nothing can stop God and hope/faith that if Jonathan acts, the LORD will as well I think the real distinction here between these two are Saul tried to make it about his sacrifice, and Jonathan about his reliance. We must seek to trust in God’s strength to deliver, and not our own.
Pray: LORD help me to learn to rely on Your strength and not my own. Amen.
Additional Scripture: “May the Lord of peace Himself give you His peace at all times and in every situation.” (2 Thess. 3:16)
