Read: Exodus 4-6
Focus Verse: “But Moses said, ‘Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.’ Then the LORD’s anger burned against Moses and he said, ‘What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you, and he will be glad to see you. You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do.” (Exodus 4:13-15).
Devotion: First, God helps put Moses at ease by giving him plenty of signs to believe and trust God is the one sending him. Despite all that Moses pushes back. What’s interesting to me is that when Moses says he’s not a good speaker (4:10) God has a plan to help. God says his brother Aaron is already on the way to meet him. If Aaron is already on his way, then God convinced and sent Aaron before Moses ever doubted, asked, or needed it. This shows that God is working and willing to equip us and help us in our weakness before we even say a word or may even be aware of our weakness. God will provide what we need before we even ask! God seeks to help Moses to further his loving mission of restoring his creation.
Pray: LORD, please equip me for service. God help me in my weakness even when I may not be aware yet what my weaknesses are. Make me aware of my weaknesses and provide me with the ways to overcome them. Amen.
Additional Scripture: “Nothing in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God.” (Romans 8:39)
