Read: Job 17-20

Focus Verse: “I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes—I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!” (Job 19:25-27).

Devotion: Job is right. While he suffers, and while his friends ridicule him, he still continues to keep his heart on God. It would have been a simple matter of Job to give up and start hating God after all that’s happened to him, yet he doesn’t. He knows his redeemer lives, and he puts his hope in the knowledge of one day coming face to face with his redeemer. Our bodies may fail and die, we may experience loss and destruction, but we know our redeemer—Jesus Christ—lives! One day we will be face to face with Jesus, but for now in him we put our trust and hope for that future.

Pray: LORD I know You live! Let my hope be found in You. Amen.

Additional Scripture: “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I called you by name; you are Mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you.” (Isiah 43:1-2)
