Read: 2 Chronicles 25-27
Focus Verse: “But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. He was unfaithful to the LORD his God, and entered the temple of the LORD to burn incense on the altar of incense.” (2 Chronicles 26:16).
Devotion: Uzziah’s pride was trying to do it all for himself and forgetting his place. Incense was the job of the priests, not the King. He had become so powerful and successful he thought he could do the priests jobs himself. So powerful he thought he was right next to God himself. He forgot that all his power and fame came from God. His folly, his pride, was forgetting what God had done for him. Christ has died to save us. All we have, all we are, is because of Christ, because of God. We must not follow in the folly of Uzziah and forget all God has done for us.
Pray: LORD thank you for saving my life and giving me new life in You! All I am and all I have comes from You. Amen.
Additional Scripture: “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
