Read: 1 Chronicles 7-8
Focus Verse: “His daughter was Sheerah, who built Lower and Upper Beth Horon as well as Uzzen Sheerah.” (1 Chronicles 7:24).
Devotion: In the continuing genealogies we see the fathers and sons of Israel’s tribes. It’s not surprising to continue to see lists of men’s names, but here a woman is mentioned. Ephraim had a daughter who built multiple cities. In a male driven society God can still use whoever is willing to build his kingdom. Then it was cities for Israel, but the call in Christ is to build God’s kingdom on earth. It doesn’t matter who we are, what we look like, or our role in society. God can and will use anyone who is willing to spread the good news of his kingdom! So God sees past what this world sees, he looks beyond our labels, and sees the willing heart.
Pray: LORD let my heart be willing. Use me even (or especially) when I don’t think I”m good enough to be used for Your kingdom, because LORD, You say that I am. Amen.
Additional Scripture: “LORD my God, I cried to You for help, and You restored my health.” (Psalm 30:2)
