Read: 1 Kings 6-7

Focus Verse: “The foundation of the Temple of the LORD was laid in the fourth year, in the month of Ziv. In the eleventh year in the month of Bal, the eighth month, the temple was finished in all its details according to its specifications. He had spent seven years building it. It took Solomon thirteen years, however, to complete the construction of his palace.” (1 Kings 6:38-7:1).

Devotion: It took 7 years to build the temple and 13 years the palace, 20 years total between the two. Solomon is known for two main things, the wisdom he gained from God, and the Temple he built for God. What’s amazing is focusing on the temple before his own palace. Solomon prioritized God’s house as more important than his own because his own took longer. Can you imagine waiting 7 years for a church to be finished before building your own beautiful home? So the point isn’t buildings or creating beautiful churches, God was content with a tent. What we learn from Solomon is that his wisdom is prioritizing God before himself.

Pray: LORD I place You first in my life, help me to always keep you before me as all i run after, prioritizing You before myself. Amen.

Additional Scripture: “The LORD leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep His covenant and obey his demands.” (Ps. 25:10)
