Read: 1 Chronicles 12-14
Focus Verse: “from Issachar, men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do—200 chiefs with all their relatives under their command.” (1 Chronicles 12:32).
Devotion: While David is amassing an army, people from every tribe are coming to join. I find this statement interesting; the tribe of Issachar understood the times so they knew what to do. They were aware of the changes happening in Israel. They were aware that David was rising to power, so they knew they should join in now. How often do we stop to think about what’s happening around us and what it means? What is it telling us? We shouldn’t ignore what’s going on in our lives, but learn to allow it to instruct us so that we will know what to do.
Pray: LORD I pray for awareness of what is going on in my life so that I may learn what I should do about it. Amen.
Additional Scripture: “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are Mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you.” (Isaiah 43:1-2)
