Read: 2 Kings 4-5

Focus Verse: “Naaman’s servants went to him and said, ‘My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you have done it? How much more, then, when he tells you, ‘Wash and be cleansed!’” (2 Kings 5:13).

Devotion: Naaman seeks Elisha to be healed of his leprosy. Elisha doesn’t even come out to meet him, but sends word to wash in the Jordan river 7 times and to be cleansed. Naaman thinks highly of himself, and he expects some grand spectacle to be healed, so he’s quite ticked off when he doesn’t get what he expects. What’s funny to me is that it’s so simple, go and wash, that’s it, yet he doesn’t believe because it’s not grand enough. Sometimes what God requires for his working and healing isn’t grand, and in reality God’s healing grace doesn’t require some grand act on our behalf. For example, in our b autism we wash and we are cleansed. Remember, God doesn’t require leaps of faith, but celebrates baby steps towards Jesus.

Pray: LORD remind me to take baby steps towards You daily. Amen.

Additional Scripture: “Those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles.” (Isa. 40:31)
