Read: 2 Chronicles 9-12

Focus Verse: “When the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, this word of the LORD came to Shemaiah: ‘Since they have humbled themselves, I will not destroy them but will soon give them deliverance. My wrath will not be poured out on Jerusalem through Shishak. They will, however, learn the difference between serving me and serving the kings of other lands.” (2 Chronicles 12:7-8).

Devotion: This occurs because the people abandoned the LORD and so they have been abandoned (12:5b). So we have this same choice daily. Do we follow God or abandon God? If we abandon God, God allows us to do that. If we choose that, however, we’re faced with the same consequence as Jerusalem, we find out the difference between serving God and serving the world. They found life much better when serving God, who is compassionate, and full of love and forgiveness.

Pray: LORD I choose You! God let me walk in Your ways and serve You, because with You life is just better. Amen!

Additional Scripture: “Anything is possible if a person believes.” (Mark 9:23)
