Read: 1 Chronicles 15-17
Focus Verse: “So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouts, with the sounding of rams’ horns and trumpets, and of cymbals, and the playing of lyres and harps.” (1 Chronicles 15:28).
Devotion: As the ark enters Jerusalem there is a great celebratory worship service. The musicians are assigned to play cymbals, lyres, harps, trumpets, and they even assigned a singer. What a praise team! To me, cymbals are the drums, lyre the guitar, harp a piano/synth, and a worship leader as a singer. How interesting it’s like a full band! The point is not to talk about stylistic worship, but to point out all Israel was dancing, shouting, celebrating, and worshiping before God. How amazing it must have been to be part of the congregation that day and see, hear, and feel the spirit with which they worshiped! That is the kind of worship I want to offer to my God and King! Worship of the heart, worship to “extol, thank, and praise the Lord”! (16:4b).
Pray: (Shout out loud) LORD I worship You! Amen!
Additional Scripture: “Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Then all the people said ‘Amen’ and ‘Praise the LORD.’” (1 Chronicles 16:36)
