Read: Numbers 26-27
Focus Verse: “Be sure that the land is distributed by lot. What each group inherits will be according to the names for its ancestral tribe. Each inheritance is to be distributed by lot among the larger and smaller groups.” (Numbers 26:55-56).
Devotion: After another census God tells them how to divide the land. The larger clans get larger lots and smaller get smaller. But beyond that they are allotted by chance. Tribes aren’t favored, they get the luck of the draw! How Fair! God wants to make sure all the people have what they need and dividing the land is impartial so it won’t cause division or jealousy. I find it beautiful how God seeks to care and provide for his people.
