Read: Numbers 16-17
Focus Verse: “‘Isn’t it enough for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the rest of the Israelite community and brought you near himself to do the work of the LORD’s tabernacle and to stand before the community and minister to them? He has brought you and all your fellow Levites near himself, but now you are trying to get the priesthood too.” (16:9-10)
Devotion: The sin of discontentment. The tribe of Korah rebelled against Moses. They believed they were holy, and they may have been. However, they weren’t content with their job, their role for God, or with where God was currently leading them. “Isn’t it enough for you…” God has already given us so much and wants so much more for us, but are we content with that, or will we be swallowed alive like Korah because we’re pining for more? Do I spread malice because of my own discontent? Why is it so hard to be content with where God has us? Why should I be worried about more if God has already set me apart? God is enough for us.
Pray: LORD help me stay focused and content with You because You are enough. Amen!
