Read: Deuteronomy 8-10

Focus Verse: “Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the wilderness these fourth years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.” (Deuteronomy 8:2).

Devotion: The journey should serve to humble us. In life the journey we take will seldom be easy, it may feel like a wasteland. The storms of this life may rage and make us cower in fear, but God can use those storms. God can use those storms to foster humility. God uses the storms to illustrate our heart. How we respond to storms reveals the capacity in our hearts. Let the storms humble you to rely on God, and reveal to you what’s lacking in your heart. God doesn’t cause the storms to happen, but he can make something beautiful out of them. Trust God will make you stronger on the other side.

Pray: LORD I pray for guidance and deliverance in the storms. Humble me to rely on You! Amen.

Additional Scripture: “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are Mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you.” (Isa 43:1-2).
