Read: Psalm’s 1-8

Focus Verse: “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose de3light is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night.” (Psalm 1:1-2).

Devotion: What a fitting way to open the psalms. Blessed are we when we avoid evil and stay in love with God, and it tells us how to do that. Meditate on God’s law day and night. My reading and journaling this year has been my attempt to begin doing just that. We stay in love with God—or at least it’s a lot easier—when we spend time in his word every day. But more than just spending time reading, we spend time contemplating it’s meaning, thinking about it, and meditating over it, letting it change and transform us.

Pray: LORD let Your word change and transform me more and more each day! Help me to meditate on Your words daily that I may grow closer to You. Amen.

Additional Scripture: “Anything is possible if a person believes.” (Mark 9:23)
