Read: Joshua 5-8

Focus Verse: “The LORD said to Joshua, ‘Stand up! What are you doing down on your face? Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen, they have lied, they have put them with their own possessions.” (Joshua 7:10-11).

Devotion: Joshua had a moment of doubt. He fell face down because he doubted the mission God commanded; the mission hit a speed bump. The people sinned and the wrong had to be corrected for Israel to carry on. So there was a way out of the mess that Israel had created. God made a way. But it’s still telling that Joshua had a weak moment. In Joshua’s turmoil he broke down but the LORD said ‘Stand Up!’ (Jos 7:10). The LORD will make a way to continue his mission in the world, but if we want to be a part of that, we must ‘stand up!’ and join in what God calls us to do! So Stand Up! Shake off this bad moment and trust God to get you through and accomplish his mission in you!

Pray: LORD pick me back up, help me be strong and carry on. Amen!

Additional Scripture: “Blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence.” (Jer 17:7)
