Read: Deuteronomy 1-2
Focus Verse: “You shall not enter it, either. But your assistant, Joshua son of Nun, will enter it. Encourage him, because he will lead Israel to inherit it.” (1:37b-38).
Devotion: So, Moses did all the work to get them here, and now he has to hand it over to someone else!? On top of that he’s asked to encourage and empower Joshua? What humility and peace that would require! Like starting a business to hand it off to someone else once it’s ready to grow. Imagine that, having to let go of your hard work so someone else can finish it. But isn’t that how life works sometimes? When we get to the end of ourselves, sometimes we have to hand off what’s left to someone else. Sometimes projects are too BIG for one of us alone.
Pray: LORD, remind me the great collaboration is NOT about the credit we receive, but the work God does through us, all of us, together. Amen!
