Read: Numbers 33-34

Focus Verse: “But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will give you trouble in the land where you will live.” (33:55)

Devotion: Israel was asked to rid the land of its inhabitants. That could sound harsh, or bad that they have to completely destroy a people. However, the reason is because the people that would be left will be a challenge. God knows if left, the people will be a temptation to fall away from God. What has been a barb in your eye, or a thorn in your side? Maybe God is calling us to completely rid ourselves of these things that threaten to pull us away from God.

Pray: LORD give us discernment to see what needs rid of in our lives, and the strength to do something about it. Amen!

Additional Scripture: “The LORD is my strength and my song; He has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise Him.” (Exodus 15:2)
