Read: Ruth 1-4
Focus Verse: “Praise be to the LORD, who this day has not left you without a guardian redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel!” (Ruth 4:14).
Devotion: Boaz certainly does! He’s famous as the grandfather of David! The redemptive process to get to this point, however, was no simple matter. The closest relative was unwilling to financially burden himself with the responsibility to redeem the two widowed families in Ruth and Naomi. Luckily, Boaz was a man of good character and willing to risk his estate to redeem these women. This redemption is what is the birth of David, and Jesus’ linage. The same Jesus who took a risk to redeem all of creation, you and me! Like his ancestors, Boaz and Ruth, Jesus is willing to risk it all so he can redeem (restore relationship) with us.
Pray: LORD thank you for risking it all for my redemption. Amen.
