Read: Psalm’s 17-20

Focus Verse: “But who can discern their own errors? Forgive my hidden faults. Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression.” (Psalm 19:12-13).

Devotion: Known and unknown sins. How often do I cut myself off from God and not even know it? Daily? Yes it’s sometimes plain to see when a choice is made to ignore God; that’s a willful sin. But what does a ‘hidden fault’ even mean? That is less obvious, clearly. Hidden, so I can’t see it? Well then how do I repent? How do I avoid it in the future? It takes meditation, and it takes personal reflection. Keeping a daily journal of thoughts and actions helps, so you can think through the day and become aware of moments you weren’t with God or moments you did things you weren’t aware of but regret doing. The more we practice and work on this the more we’ll be able to have awareness in the moment.

Pray: LORD “May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.” (Psalm 19:14). Amen.

Additional Scripture: “Blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence.” (Jeremiah 17:7)
