Read: Psalm’s 26-31

Focus Verse: “Sing the praises of the LORD, you his faithful people; praise his holy name. For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” (Psalm 30:4-5).

Devotion: I like this thought from David that God’s anger lasts only for a moment, but favor for a lifetime. How often do we do the opposite? Harbor anger towards someone for a lifetime and only show favor (love) to people in the moment. I want to be made more like God daily, but that’s hard. Too often it’s easier to harbor anger, but if we are to be made more like God we have to learn to let go of our anger. Also we can rest easy knowing when we walk with God—and when we mess up—God’s anger is fleeting but his favor is lasting. Don’t be anxious of God’s rage/disappointment but focus on his unending love and favor.

Pray: LORD direct my heart, help me to let go of anger in my life. Amen.

Additional Scripture: “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
