Read: Judges 13-15

Focus Verse: “What is sweeter than honey? What is stronger than a lion?” (Judges 14:18a).

Devotion: While I think Sampson’s riddle was about himself, the underlying message is he got his strength from the LORD. So what is sweeter, and what is stronger? The LORD! In the midst of the storm, in the midst of Israel’s chaos, being ruled, fighting off nations, God raises up deliverance. God is sweet, loving, caring, and also a strong, mighty deliver! While the LORD raises up men who fight for Israel it is always on God’s strength and goodness that it occurs. Whatever chaos or trial you may be in right now in life, know you can get through it with God’s strength and goodness. For what’s sweeter than honey and stronger than a lion?

Pray: LORD in the middle of chaos Your strength and goodness delivers me. Amen.

Additional Scripture: “I will rejoice in the LORD! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!” (Hab. 3:18)
